Lake-Effect Snow Showers Hit New York

Snow fell on parts of upstate New York as a winter storm threatened heavy snow accumulation by the end of the weekend, the National Weather Service (NWS) said on Thursday, November 17.

Chris Luft said he filmed this footage in Amsterdam, northwest of Albany, on Thursday morning. The NWS warned of wind gusts up to 30 mph in some parts and lake-effect snow showers throughout the day.

The service said areas near Buffalo would receive significant accumulations of snow, to be measured in “feet, not inches.” Credit: Chris Luft via Storyful
