Lake Mills Fire Chief Todd Yandre unexpectedly dies, suffers 'cardiac event'
Lake Mills Fire Chief Todd Yandre died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, the fire department said in a statement.
Autopsy reports haven't been released but initial reports indicate that Yandre suffered a "cardiac event," the statement reads.
Yandre was with the department for more than 41 years, starting out at a volunteer firefighter. He also was an adjunct instructor for Madison College. Yandre was a member of the Emergency Services Board of Madison College, Wisconsin Society of Fire Instructors, International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association.
"As a dedicated fire and emergency services professional, Chief Yandre protected, served, and saved countless lives within our community, the surrounding region, and the State of Wisconsin. Chief Yandre lived and died a hero, deserving celebration and remembrance," the statement reads.
Visitation and memorial services have not yet been announced.
