Lake View Chiefs fall to Greenwood in nondistrict finale at home

Midland Greenwood outscored San Angelo Lake View 17-0 in the second half to extend an eight-point halftime lead and beat the Chiefs 31-6 in the final nondistrict football game Friday at San Angelo Stadium.

Lake View fell to 3-3 for the season and travels to Andrews next Friday for the District 2-4A Division I opener against the Mustangs.

Greenwood improved to 3-3 and opens District 3-4A D-II play at home against Snyder next Friday.

The Rangers forced Lake View to attempt a 37-yard field goal on its first possession of the second half and then drove 69 yards, capped by their own 22-yard field goal to take a 17-6 lead at the 5:21 mark of the third quarter.

A 14-yard TD pass from backup quarterback Dylan Dominguez to Ethan Madrid gave Greenwood a 24-6 lead with 7:25 to play in the game.

The Madrid catch capped a 12-play Greenwood drive that started at its own 15-yard line at the 1:47 mark of the third quarter.

An interception by Greenwood linebacker Jimmy Vasquez at the Lake View 26-yard line set up the Rangers’ final score, a run by Dominguez to push the lead to 31-6 with 3:41 to play.
