Lake Wales man dies in a single-vehicle crash

LAKE WALES — A 31-year-old Lake Wales man died in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend.

According to the Lake Wales Police Department, emergency workers responded to the scene at 1:50 a.m. on U.S. Highway 27 and Chalet Suzanne Road.

According to investigators Tyrell Rashad Sloan was driving north in the center lane of Highway 27 in a 2002 Honda Accord.As he approached Chalet Suzanne Road, he lost control of his car for unknown reasons.

Tyrell continued traveling into the corner of the intersection closest to Citizen’s Bank where he hit a concrete pole and the vehicle overturned, officials said in a release.

Sloan was declared dead at scene as Lake Wales Police officials said excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing as Lake Wales Police officials are asking anyone with information related to the crash to contact officer Rocky Myers at 863-678-4223.
