These Lakeland Businesses Got PPP Loans: Coronavirus

LAKELAND, FL — Businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic were able to apply for federal relief through the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Treasury's Paycheck Protection Program.

On Monday, for the first time, the Department of Treasury and Small Business Administration released a list of businesses and nonprofit groups who successfully applied for emergency loans ranging from $10 million to $150,000.

Here are the businesses in Lakeland that earned PPP loans over $150,000, based on data released by the Small Business Administration:

PPP loans were established as part of the federal government's CARES Act and are similar to grants: They will be forgiven as long as businesses keep employees on the payroll and don't cut their pay. However, the money does not necessarily have to go directly to employees as long as the business keeps paying them; it can also be used to pay interest on mortgages, rent and utilities.
