Lakeland Community College's Holden University Center expands partnership with Ursuline College
Aug. 16—Beginning this fall, students looking to earn a bachelor's degree close to home in Lake County will have more options.
The Holden University Center of Lakeland Community College in Kirtland announced last week that students can now choose from four new bachelor's degree programs offered through the Ursuline College Accelerated Program.
According to Lakeland, the new degree programs include:
—Bachelor of Arts in Business Management
—Bachelor of Science in Nursing
—Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
—Bachelor of Science in Social Work
By adding the degree programs, students now have a choice of more than 50 bachelor's degrees from nine colleges and universities through Holden, officials noted.
"We are grateful for our partnership with Ursuline College and their commitment to providing high-quality learning opportunities for our students," said Kristina Willey, Lakeland's senior director for student recruitment and Holden.
"Adding these new degree programs will give our students more options when choosing career paths, ultimately leading to a more qualified and diverse workforce for Northeast Ohio."
The programs bring Ursuline's total partnership to seven offerings, including online and hybrid options and the only doctoral program offered through Holden.
Ursuline's existing programs include:
—Bachelor of Arts in Humanities
—Master of Science in Nursing
—Doctor of Nursing Practice
Kathryn M. LaFontana, Ursuline's vice president for academic affairs, said she's delighted the two schools are expanding the partnership.
"Designated a national Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing, and among the top-ranked nursing colleges in Ohio, Ursuline's Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions offers one of the most respected nursing programs in the country, while our social work program is ranked among the nation's best by College Values Online," she added.
"We are committed to making these high-quality educational experiences more accessible to residents of Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties to prepare them for lives of service, leadership, and professional excellence."
Ursuline will host a general information session from noon to 1 p.m., Aug. 25, at Holden.
