Lakeland Dental Hygiene Clinic scheduling appointments

Sep. 14—The Lakeland Community College Dental Hygiene program is scheduling appointments for members of the public, school officials announced.

The dental hygiene clinic is located on the ground floor of the H-Building on Lakeland's campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland.

Services include an oral exam, periodontal examination, cleaning, essential X-rays, fluoride treatment and comprehensive dental health education.

Students perform services under the supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygiene faculty as part of their requirements for graduation.

The clinic will be open for appointments through Nov. 22 and will be open for appointments again during the spring semester.

As the clinic is a teaching facility, each appointment may take about three to four hours, officials noted, and multiple appointments may be needed to complete treatment, depending on individual requirements.

All new clinic patients must undergo a phone screening before being scheduled for any appointments.

Fees for services cover treatment materials — for patients ages 17 and younger and senior citizens 60-plus, the cost is $20; for ages 18 to 59, the cost is $25; the cost for Lakeland students is $20.
