Jay Scrubb’s 26 points lifted the Lakeland Magic to its 12th win of the season Sunday at the RP Funding Center, inching closer to playoff play.

The local G League affiliate won handily over the Grand Rapids Gold to move to 12-11 on the season thanks to the guard’s heroics. Tagging along in the action were guards Zavier Simpson and Kevon Harris, who had 21 and 19 points respectively.

“We have to play aggressively from the jump and take care of the ball,” Harris said. “We have to play on both ends of the court and with a chip on our shoulder. We want to make the playoffs; we have to come out and handle our business. I love this team, we come out every game with our best efforts and know how to complement each other.”

On the Grand Rapids' side, Peyton Watson led the team with 22 points and seven assists, while Bryce Willis produced a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards for the Gold. Lakeland’s next game will be against the Wisconsin Herd Thursday at the RP Funding Center.
