MISSISSAUGA, Ontario ― Zavier Simpson was scoring and dishing en route to a Lakeland Magic 124-102 blowout win over the 905 Raptors on Thursday afternoon at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

The guard out of Michigan posted a double-double, 24 points and 11 assists, while forward Nuni Omot out of Baylor tallied 20 points and six rebounds and guard Aleem Ford out of Wisconsin racked up 15 points.

Polk County’s local G League affiliate took the lead in the second quarter by outscoring the Raptors 36-22. The Magic’s bench posted 22 points in the quarter, which in turn led to Lakeland strong-arming the lead for the rest of the game. The Magic bench outscored the Raptors 63-39.

“We went out there and played confidently, we are missing a lot of starting players right now,” Simpson said. “We have faced ups and downs lately, but my goal is always the same. I’m here to make sure we are in the best position to win whether I score zero points or I’m the leading scorer.”

Lakeland (15-13) will next play the Raptors (14-14) at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mississauga.
