LAKELAND — Lakeland's public transit agency is partnering with Polk Museum of Art to bring a new service to this year's Mayfaire by-the-Lake festival.

Citrus Connection will provide a free Squeeze shuttle service for Mayfaire on May 7 and 8, offering attendees with an effortless way to get from the downtown parking lots to the festival. The shuttle will run from 8:45 a.m to 4 p.m.

The Squeeze uses two eight-passenger golf carts to transport people around downtown Lakeland. It will stay as close as possible to its standard route during Mayfaire, according to Citrus Connection Executive Director Tom Phillips, with minor modifications for road closures around Lake Morton.

The Squeeze will continue to operate during its regular weekend hours of 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The shuttle will run a reduced route Saturday night, going between the RP Funding Center and nearby hotels into downtown Lakeland to avoid interfering with the annual Mayfaire 5K run.
