Lakers will visit Michigan Tech for opening exhibition

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech hockey has added an exhibition game against Lake Superior State on Oct. 1.

The Huskies and Lakers will drop the puck on the 2022-23 season at 2:07 p.m. at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

The two teams will also meet on Nov. 11-12 in Houghton and Dec. 16-17 at Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie.

Tech’s regular season kicks off at Ferris State on Oct. 7 and the regular season home opener is Oct. 21-22 against Bemidji State.

Lake Superior State also has exhibitions scheduled at home against Nipissing on Oct. 2 and against the U.S. National Team Development Program Under-18s on Oct. 7. LSSU's first regular season games are at home against Nebraska-0maha on Nov. 14-15.

The Lakers also recently learned their opening opponent for the 2022 Kwik Trip Holiday Faceoff on Dec. 28-29 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis. LSSU plays Wisconsin in one semifinal on Dec. 28. UMass plays Clarkson in the other semifinal on Dec. 28, with the consolation and championship games set for Dec. 29.
