MANITOWOC - Summer is winding down, which means this week brings your last chance to take a shoreline cruise on the S.S. Badger, party on the street at Fat Seagull and catch your final waves at the Aquatic Center.

The Lakeshore Balloon Glow will also light up downtown on Friday and next week brings five days of fun at the Manitowoc County Fair.

Here are five things to do in Manitowoc.

1. Let Lakeshore Balloon Glow light up your weekend

Head to Manitowoc’s riverfront Friday for the Lakeshore Balloon Glow.

Packed with family fun from 5 to 9 p.m., there will be a water ski show at 6 p.m., aerial dance show at 6:30 p.m., the balloons will glow at 7:30 p.m., and a fireworks display light up the night sky at 8:30 p.m.

There will also be food trucks, drinks and kids’ activities throughout the evening.

2. Set sail on the last S.S. Badger shoreline cruise

The last shoreline cruise of the season for the S.S. Badger Lake Michigan Car Ferry is Saturday.

The cruise is will take passengers up and down the Manitowoc shoreline from 2 to 4 p.m.

The afternoon’s theme is “Bon Voyage to Summer,” featuring entertainment by Riley Haupt.

Food and a cash bar are also available.

3. Have a blast at the final summer Fat Seagull street party

Fat Seagull, 807 Quay St., will be rocking out at its last street party of the year this weekend.

Live music from Full Circle starts at 1 p.m. and Aces High at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday, Smoke Road plays at 3 p.m.

A cornhole tournament will also be taking place.

4. Partake in Customer Appreciation Day at the Aquatic Center

The Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center wants to show appreciation to its customers for another fun and successful season.

From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, admission is only $1.

Enjoy the warming pool, lazy river, water slides, concession stand, and splash pad during this special event to conclude the 2022 season.

5. There’s something for everyone at the Manitowoc County Fair

One of Manitowoc’s largest events, the Manitowoc County Fair returns next week for five days of fun Aug. 24-28.

Kick off fair week with a parade and fireworks next Wednesday night at 9, then come back daily for the Sea Lion Show, Lew-E’s Comedy Circus, carnival rides and games, merchant building, farm animals, food and more.

All the fun is held on the Expo grounds, 4921 Expo Drive. Daily gate admission for ages 4 and older, which includes unlimited carnival rides, parking, grandstand entertainment, music and more, is $10. Kids 3 and younger are admitted free, but that does not include rides. Gate open at 8 a.m. each day.
