Lakeview Center hosts job fair and hiring event at Activity Center on Pensacola campus
Lakeview Center will host a job fair and hiring event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 at the Activity Center located at 1110 W. Lakeview Ave. Onsite interviews, pre-screenings and information about specific job openings will be available. Attendees are asked to please bring their resume, a list of references, their social security card and valid photo identification.
Available positions include counselors, nurses (RN and LPN), behavioral health technicians, screening specialists and senior screening specialists. Applications are being accepted prior to the event, and all available job openings can be found at eLakeviewCenter.org.
In addition to competitive pay and time-off, the benefits package includes medical, dental and vision plans, as well as retirement savings accounts.
Positions highlighted at this event include those supporting the opening of Lakeview Center’s new Central Receiving Facility and Crisis Stabilization Unit, which is slated to open in early 2024 at Lakeview Center’s main campus. These programs will help meet a growing need to address how individuals in crisis are cared for in Northwest Florida. Upon opening, the Lakeview Center CRF will be the designated entry point for adults living in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties who need a Baker Act Screening.

Feeding the Gulf Coast launches Millie, the Mobile Market
Feeding the Gulf Coast will launch its newest programmatic initiative, Millie, the Mobile Market, with a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 5 at the Jay Farmers’ Market, 5369 Commerce St. A variety of fresh produce, including eggplant, yellow squash, zucchini, corn, and oranges, will be available for purchase.
The Mobile Market program, also known as Millie, will travel routes throughout Feeding the Gulf Coast’s Florida service area, addressing pockets of low food access where supermarkets are scarce, to provide community members the opportunity to buy affordable fresh produce and other nutritious foods at a significantly discounted rate. As the program progresses, the Mobile Market aims to become a SNAP-authorized retailer, enabling families to use their SNAP benefits for purchasing nutritious food.
Feeding the Gulf Coast collaborates with local farmers to purchase produce specifically for the Mobile Market.

Gulf Coast Kid’s House hosts adult sexual abuse recovery group
Gulf Coast Kid’s House recently announced a free, 12-week therapy group for adults who experienced childhood sexual abuse. This is the third group hosted by the Kid's House and past attendees have stated that it has been life-changing. The recovery group will be led by Nancy Hagman, M.Ed., LMHC and Margot Dutel, LCSW and will run from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 9 through March 26.
Childcare and refreshments will be provided. All attendees must commit to attending all 12-weeks. Gulf Coast Kid's House is accepting donations to help underwrite the cost of this service. If you are interested in donating, call 850-595-5800 or visit gulfcoastkidshouse.org.

Navy Federal delivers gifts to 590 individuals during holidays
Navy Federal Credit Union employees made the holidays a little brighter for 121 local families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties this year through the annual Project Neighbors: Holiday Giving Program. Team members use paid volunteer hours to shop for items, wrap them and deliver gifts to families.
Project Neighbors is part of Navy Federal’s flagship School Partnerships Program, which partners with local public schools and nonprofit organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Arc Gateway and Boys and Girls Club, to identify families in need during the holiday season.
Project Neighbors: Holiday Giving is a nationwide initiative at Navy Federal, which has impacted over 1,000 individuals from coast-to-coast this year. Volunteers at the credit union’s Northwest Florida campus made the biggest impact by serving 590 individuals with gifts and holiday cheer this season.

Santa Rosa County Citizen Corps host CERT course
Santa Rosa County Citizen Corps will host a basic Community Emergency Response Team course from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 and 13 at the Bear Lake Pavilion on Bear Lake Road in Munson.
The class is free, lunch is provided, and students who complete the class will receive a free basic supplies kit. Interested students must register online and attend both sessions to complete the class. This course will be offered in the south end of Santa Rosa County in late February.
CERT training provides volunteers with basic skills to respond in a disaster such as fighting small fires, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Santa Rosa County CERT is also involved in supporting the community through providing first aid at events, traffic direction for races, and firefighter rehabilitation.
