With no event last year, it has been two years since a new All-City champ has been crowned in girls golf.

Lakeview is back on top after a relatively long drought for that program as the Spartans took home the All-City championship trophy on Monday.

Lakeview finished first with a team score of 173, outdistancing second-place Harper Creek in the annual All-City Girls Golf Tournament, held at Binder Park Golf Course.

Harper Creek had won the two previously held All-City events in 2019 and 2020, with the 2021 tournament rained out.

"We have five seniors on the team, for four of them, this is their fourth year playing and they felt a little bit ripped off because they didn't get to have this last year, it was rained out," Lakeview coach David Ouellette said. "So the girls were really champing at the bit to play it. For the seniors, this is their last All-City and they wanted to go out with a trophy."

Lakeview's Alexa Thurman was match medalist and finished as All-City champ with the low round of 40. After getting a double bogey on her first hole, she birdied her second and played solid the rest of the way.

"I started out so bad," Thurman said. "But after that I just realized I should just go out and have fun and I started playing better.

"I'm excited how well the team did. We have been looking forward to the All-City, since we didn't have it last year. We were extra excited to try and win it this year."

After the 40 from Thurman, Lakeview's Annabelle Minneman was close behind for a 41 to take second and the Spartans' Amiyah Gibson was next with a 42. Sydney Ross finished out the Lakeview top four with a round of 50, as the entire quartet all earned All-City honors.

Jordanne Norris of Harper Creek shared second place with a round of 41 to also be named to the All-City team. Arabella Stanley shot a 52 for the Beavers with Rachel Kyger adding a round of 53 and Mallory Flanders had a 56.
