Lakewood man killed in Howell crash identified

Police news

Police have identified the Lakewood man killed in a one-vehicle crash that also injured four passengers in Howell last week.

Victor Ardiles, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Lanes Mill Road shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 6.

On that Wednesday, Ardiles was operating a Toyota Rav4 east on Lanes Mill Road near Lanes Pond Road when the SUV attempted to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and struck a concrete mailbox, Howell police said.

The Rav4 then collided with a brick landscaping wall on a nearby property and overturned, according to police.

Police said two adult and two juvenile passengers were taken to a local hospital, where they were last listed in stable condition.

The incident is still under investigation and police are asking any witnesses to contact Patrolman Michael Silvani of the department's Traffic Safety Unit at 732-938-4575, ext. 2651.
