LaMelo Ball, Hornets to be nationally televised vs. Lonzo, Pelicans

On Friday, the NBA released its game schedule and broadcast schedules for TNT, ESPN, ABC, NBA TV and ESPN Radio for the first half of the 2020-21 regular season, which is set to run Dec. 22 through March 4.

One early-season matchup includes the first game between the Ball brothers.

LaMelo, the third overall pick in the NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets, is slated to face Lonzo and the New Orleans Pelicans for the first time on Jan. 8. The matchup, which is the Hornets’ lone national TV game, will be broadcast on ESPN.

Lonzo previously said on JJ Redick’s podcast that the matchup between the two may be hard on LaMelo because he knows his game all too well. Lonzo even went as far as saying LaMelo will have a “tough” night during that first matchup.

The matchup will certainly be worth tuning in for to see if the two brothers will guard each other. That game will be just the ninth on the Hornets’ schedule and LaMelo will likely still be getting a feel for the competition, so Lonzo may very well school his younger brother.
