Lana Condor, Andrew Koji's 'Worth the Wait' gets picked up

"Worth the Wait," the Asian American star-studded rom-com film by Lana Condor and Andrew Koji, has been picked up by The Exchange, according to a report.

About the movie: Set in Seattle and Kuala Lumpur, "Worth the Wait" is a “modern approach to ‘Love Actually’ with a star-studded Asian American cast,” Nat McCormick, The Exchange’s worldwide sales and distribution president, told Variety. The film reportedly follows Asian American strangers as they find new love, mend relationships and create new connections over a year.

Film festival premiere: "Worth the Wait" will be introduced to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin, which takes place from Feb. 15-21 alongside the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. The project wrapped up production in Vancouver and Kuala Lumpur last year.

Star-studded cast: Joining Condor and Koji in the film are Ross Butler (“Shazam,” “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”), Sung Kang (“Fast and Furious”), Elodie Yung (“The Hitman’s Bodyguard”), Karena Lam (“American Girl”) and Kheng Hua Tan (“Crazy Rich Asians”). Condor and Koji are also executive producers.

What they’re saying: In announcing the project last year, director Tom Shu-Yu Lin said he was thrilled to film in the U.S. after a 15-year career in Asia. "Growing up in both the U.S. and Taiwan, the American side of my upbringing has always been a huge part of who I am, and I am so excited to finally be able to showcase that with ‘Worth the Wait,'" he told Deadline.
