Lane County Public Health COVID booster clinics fill up, more appointments available Friday

·1 min read

On Tuesday, Lane County Public Health resumed offering COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to adults at the Lane Events Center's drive-thru clinic. But those hoping to make an appointment for a shot this week are out of luck until Friday.

"There's quite a bit of demand for it," said Anne Marie Levis, the interim spokesperson for Lane County Public Health.

All 660 of this week's appointment spots filled up when they became available last Wednesday. Those who try to schedule an appointment with the county online now will find no dates available.

Anyone trying to get a booster shot with Lane County Public Health this week will find no days of clinic available when they try to schedule their appointment. That's because all the spots are filled.

Anyone hoping to get a shot through the county might be able to get one next week. Levis said between 600 and 700 spots will open at 8 a.m. Friday.

Booster shots also are available at many local pharmacies and health care providers. Some pharmacies are booking shots further in advanced, whereas the county is currently scheduling shots one week ahead.

The county is giving Moderna boosters. The booster shots are for those 18 and older who have had either six months pass since their second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, or two months pass since their one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Those seeking Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine boosters should check with local pharmacies and primary care providers.
