ADRIAN -- Former Holt standout Elijah Stark fired a two-hit shutout and Lansing Communty College hitters banged out 13 hits as the Stars rolled in the first game of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Region XII baseball championship on Thursday.

Blake McRae had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs as LCC, the No. 1 seed in the region, crushed Edison State Community College (Piqua, Ohio) 16-0 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule at Siena Heights University.

Shane Juday had three hits and two RBIs and Brendan Ham and Jace Preston, who is out of DeWitt, drove in two runs apiece for the Stars, who improved 41-8 on the season and will play either Kellogg Community College or Grand Rapids Community College in a second-round game at 1 p.m. Friday at Siena Heights. The winner of that game will earn a berth in Saturday's championship round.

The Region XII champion will earn a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series May 28-June 3/4 in Enid, Oklahoma.

Chris Hege and Hunter Lay also had two hits for LCC, which has won 39 of its last 42 games.
