Lansing police identify 60-year-old man killed in vehicle crash on Monday

Police are investigating after a man walked into McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital Friday afternoon with a gunshot wound.

LANSING — Lansing police have identified the 60-year-old man killed in a four-vehicle crash earlier this week.

Richard Mason, whose hometown was not released by police, was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Monday.

The crash, at Interstate 96 and M-99, involved four vehicles and closed north- and southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

Police have said they believe Mason may have experienced a medical incident before the crash. A woman in a different vehicle also was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
