Lapsley to seek re-election to Henderson County Board of Commissioners

Bill Lapsley, chairman of the Board of Commissioners, has officially announced his plan to run for re-election.

“I am proud to announce my intent to file for re-election to the Henderson County Board of Commissioners seat representing District 3 in the 2022 election,” Lapsley said in a statement. “I have been committed to work on behalf of my fellow citizens over the past seven years and look forward to facing the challenges during a third four-year term.”

Lapsley, 73, was first sworn into office in December 2014. He retired as a consulting engineer for William G. Lapsley & Associates the same year.

He was unanimously selected as chair by his fellow commissioners in December 2020.

Lapsley said his experience in economic development has benefited the county in recruiting new manufacturing facilities like Reaumetic, GF Linamar, Jabil and others over the years.

He also noted his background in engineering and construction and said that has influenced projects such as the new Innovative High Schools building at Blue Ridge Community College, the new Edneyville Elementary and Hendersonville High buildings and projects at BRCC.

“I am honored to have been elected by the citizens of my home county to fill this seat for District 3 on the board for two consecutive terms and will ask again for their support in the November 2022 general election,” Lapsley said in the statement.

District 3 primarily covers the northwestern part of Henderson County.
