Lara Trump on Sunday expressed optimism for the prospect of becoming the next co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and emphasized the importance of November’s election to reverse what she called the nation’s “bad leadership.”

Asked on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” for her expectations when it comes to leadership in the RNC, Lara Trump said, “Well, the committee has to ultimately vote me in. If that’s what they decide to do, I would be honored to have this position, because … I think there’s no time to waste.”

“We have 10 months to go really before what I think we can all feel right now in this country … is the most important election any of us have ever seen,” she continued.

Speculation swirled last week about Lara Trump vying for a role in the RNC after Trump threw his support behind her for the co-chair position of the committee. In his endorsement, he described her as “an extremely talented communicator who is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for.”

Trump also endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chair Michael Whatley to serve as RNC chair.

Lara Trump is married to the former president’s son — Eric Trump —  and has been involved with the RNC and party donors since her father-in-law’s time in the Oval Office. If she and Whatley are elected by RNC members, it would suggest a full takeover of the committee by the former president.

Lara Trump on Sunday underscored the importance of getting her father-in-law back in the White House and argued “we are poised to lose the country.”

“The world is destabilized right now because you have bad leadership at the top,” she said. “And you don’t win a presidential campaign without the aid of the Republican National Committee. And so if I am chosen as co-chair, what I can tell you is that we really do have a lot of work to get done.”

She pledged to make election integrity a central focus of her work if elected to the RNC, to ensure “that nothing is left to chance.”

The RNC needs to raise “a lot of money” and to reaffirm people can “feel good” about donating to the committee, she added. She also reiterated her pledge from last week, in which she vowed to spend “every single penny” of RNC funds to reelect Trump to the White House.

“And we really have to hit this thing head-on,” she said. “We have a lot of work to do. There’s a little time to go between now and November 5. And, look, we’re going to hit the ground running as soon as and if I am elected as co-chair of the RNC.”

Lara Trump dismissed any impact the four criminal indictments could have on the former president’s prospects of winning in November. Trump faces a total of 91 criminal charges spread among four state and federal criminal indictments. He is also facing more than a half-dozen civil lawsuits.

“He … probably has the most energy of any person I have ever seen in my life. He’s incredible. Nothing will stop him,” she said. “And, look, these are designed to make him rethink what he’s doing. Obviously, all of these indictments, well, ‘Donald Trump’s going to say, I can’t do it’ … Absolutely not. He’s going forward because I think he knows … he is truly the only person who can do the job that we need to bring this country back, to put us back on the right track, to stabilize the world.”
