State officials have passed laws restricting or banning abortion procedures since the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Currently, Florida’s law bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

The abortion ban makes no exceptions for victims of rape, incest or human trafficking.

The only exceptions are to save the mother’s life, prevent injuries or if there’s a fatal fetus abnormality.

Nicole Richards, one of the leaders of Bans Off Our Bodies Florida and an organizer of the event, said that she hopes protests like these will make a difference in next month’s midterm elections.

“This peaceful protest on Sunday is to demand that our elected officials support the residents of this state by committing to refuse to pass any and all legislation that prevents our right to choose,” Richards said.
