Large Fire Breaks Out at Tehran Oil Refinery

A large fire broke out at an oil refinery in a southern area of Tehran on June 2, sending smoke billowing into the sky above the Iranian capital.

This footage, shared by Iran’s Oil Ministry, shows the fire as it continued burning well into nighttime hours.

Earlier on the same day, Iran’s largest warship sank after it too burst into flames in the Gulf of Oman. Iranian officials denied rumors that the refinery fire was the result of sabotage.

Amid reports of local residents lining up for gasoline, Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, speaking with the refinery burning behind him, said there would be no disruption in the gasoline supply. Credit: Iranian Ministry of Oil via Storyful
