Large Fire Destroys Wildlife Habitats at Ireland's Oldest National Park

Crews worked to contain a large fire that burned through thousands of acres at Ireland’s oldest national park on April 24.

The fire at Killarney National Park is one of the worst in the area in almost 40 years and caused major destruction to wildlife, Mayor of Kerry Patrick O’Connor Scarteen told local media.

Local fire service personnel, police, and Irish Army Air Corps crews fought to contain the blaze on Saturday. The cause of the fire had not been determined by Saturday evening. Credit: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage via Storyful
