Large stash of pills, marijuana seized in Salisbury raid; suspect arrested

Over 12,000 pills and over 100 grams of marijuana were seized from a Salisbury home in December, the Wicomico County's Sheriff's Office announced on Friday.

In December of 2022, the Eastern Shore office of Homeland Security Investigations contacted the Sheriff's Office's Community Action Team in relation to an international package found to contain 4,000 Zolpidem pills, which is a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance. The package was destined to an address in Salisbury, Maryland, and HSI Eastern Shore and the Salisbury Police Tactical Team assisted CAT with search warrant executions in the 600 block of Truitt Street in Salisbury and in the 300 block of Autumn Ridge Drive in Hebron, Maryland.

Chad Gerhart was arrested and charged with three counts of possession with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession-not cannabis, and possession of cannabis greater than 10 grams.

The search warrant and the original package seizure resulted in the seizure of 12,140 pills (7,400 Zolpidem pills and 4,700 Diazepam pills), 129.82 grams of marijuana, and other evidence related to packaging and distributing controlled pills.

After Gerhart's arrest, two additional packages were seized containing an additional 8,020 Zolpidem pills that were destined to Gerhart.

Gerhart is currently being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
