There may not be an issue more complex or more vital to Colorado than water.

To help residents understand the issues and initiatives that impact their lives, Larimer County and the Colorado Water Center at Colorado State University are launching the Larimer County Water Education Series from August through November.

Each monthly session will focus on a specific water management and conservation topic. Regional water experts will walk participants through the challenges and opportunities facing Larimer County's water resources.

Each session will include a Water 101 introduction, presentations from regional experts, a panel discussion, and a question-and-answer session. Sessions will be held in person and recorded. Sessions one and four will also be livestreamed at www.larimer.gov to accommodate those who prefer to participate remotely.

All sessions are from 6-8 p.m. Here's the schedule:

  • Water Supply and Risks: Monday, Aug. 21, Larimer County Administrative Services Building, 200 W. Oak St., Fort Collins.

  • Water Conservation and Sharing: Wednesday, Sept. 20, Larimer County Loveland Campus, 200 Peridot Ave., Loveland.

  • Watershed Health and Instream Flows: Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Larimer County Loveland Campus, 200 Peridot Ave., Loveland.

  • What's Next for Larimer County Water: Thursday, Nov. 16, Larimer County Administrative Services Building, 200 W. Oak St. Fort Collins.

"Water is a precious resource that affects every aspect of our lives, and these sessions will empower residents with knowledge and tools to contribute positively to the sustainable management of our water resources," said Lesli Ellis, Larimer County director of community planning, infrastructure, and resources.
