Larimer County, Weld County sheriff's offices ask for help locating missing man

Larimer and Weld County sheriff's offices are asking the public's help finding a missing Greeley man whose vehicle was found at a Larimer County trailhead Thursday.

Michael Powers, 64, of Greeley, was reported missing to Weld County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Sept. 19. His vehicle, a red pickup truck, was found at the Dunraven Trailhead, 2105 Dunraven Glade Road, about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. The trailhead is located between Drake and Glen Haven.

After the vehicle was found, Weld County Sheriff's Office asked Larimer County Sheriff's Office for help.

Larimer County Emergency Services and Larimer County Search and Rescue searched the area near where Powers' vehicle was found but did not find him. The search, which was suspended at sundown, was planned to continue Friday, Sept. 22, Larimer County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Investigators have reason to believe to Powers could have been experiencing a crisis when he went missing, the news release said.

Because of the number of trails in that area, investigators are trying to narrow down where Powers may have headed and are asking anyone who saw him or may have more information about where he was headed to contact them.

There is not believed to be a public threat related to Powers' disappearance, the sheriff's office said.
