Community Snapshot: El Perro Diablo Marine Corps League Det. 478, of Las Cruces, placed in several events in the 13th Military Honors Conference & Competition, held Thursday, April 21, in Las Cruces. The competition had been held in Albuquerque the previous 12 years. The competition consists of honor guards conducting a mock funeral. The large group includes the firing of three volleys, playing of taps and the folding and presenting of the flag. The small group includes the playing of taps and folding and presenting the flag. The El Perro Diablo MCL Gold team placed first and El Perro Diablo MCL Scarlet team placed second in the large group flag folding-firing party. The El Perro Diablo Scarlet team placed first and the MCL Gold team third in the small group flag folding. Members of the teams include Stan Dyer, Albert Evaro, Hector Torres, Jesse Rodriguez, Don Marquez, Jeff Eakman, Ray Rivera, Al Mondragon, Eddy Grooms, Andres Rivera, Martin Rodriguez, Victor Eres, Joe Mendiola, Joe Montoya, Ed Clark, Don Hanlin, Don Marquez, Ruben Telles, Clemente Morales, Larry Rodriguez, Gilbert Tarin and Neri Frietze.
