Las Cruces police request public's help after shooting injures one

LAS CRUCES - The Las Cruces Police department requested the public's help on Monday to identify suspects in a shooting on Monday.

Police said in a news release that one man was shot around 7 a.m. Jan. 17 at his apartment on the 200 block of West Madrid Road. Police said that the man was shot in the leg and taken to a Las Cruces hospital. He was later released from hospital care, the news release said.

According to the news release, detectives said that several people were in the apartment on West Madrid Road when two men forced their way inside.

"Through the investigation, detectives learned that two male subjects forced entry into the apartment made contact with the victim which resulted in a gunshot wound," the news release said. "The origin of the gunshot is still under investigation."
