Las Vegas-area teen was locked in her bedroom for a year, police say; mother among 3 arrested

Police in greater Las Vegas this week said a teenager was locked in a room for over a year before she escaped and contacted police.

The girl's mother, Addy Gonzales, and grandmother, Maria Pasarin, were arrested on charges of felony child abuse as well as false imprisonment, a gross misdemeanor, Clark County online criminal court records show.

A third defendant in the case, Daniel Omezcua, was also arrested on the same two felony charges. His relationship to the teen and her mother and grandmother was not immediately known.

Officers were called to a home in North Las Vegas Nov. 4 after a neighbor reported seeing the teenager using a ladder to climb into an upstairs bedroom, according to multiple reports.

The neighbor told police the girl had asked for food and water and said her parents were keeping her locked in a bedroom, per local station FOX 5. The girl reportedly said she ate only when her mother was home.

The teen claimed to police her parents locked her in her bedroom without food and did not allow her to use the bathroom, local outlets reported.

When officers responded to the home and entered the room, police said they found a box spring, a bed frame with a sheet and a bucket in the room filled with waste, according to local reports.

Police reportedly said the girl had been living that way for at least a year.

All three suspects, court records show, are due in court on Nov. 21.
