The last 600 Choco Tacos ‘on Earth’ are coming to Lexington. Here’s how to get one
Are you still mourning the loss of Klondike’s Choco Taco?
Well, hold onto your shell: We know where the last 600 are and how you can get one right here in Lexington.
Yes, a real Choco Taco, with waffle shell, vanilla ice cream, nuts and chocolate topping.
The last ones “on earth,” according to a news release.
Klondike discontinued the taco-shaped ice cream treat in July 2022 after nearly 40 years. The company did a “farewell tour” in September then had a digital scavenger hunt on Instagram for the last ones. People were so nuts for them that someone listed one on eBay for $25,000.
But, apparently, the company found a last batch in a freezer.
They turned to a Lexington restaurant to say, “Would you like these?”
And the owners of Lexington’s Taco Tico on Southland Drive said yes. The 600 Choco Tacos will be given away on June 16 from 1-4 p.m. at the restaurant at 212 Southland Dr.
“I don’t really have many details about how this came to be, but we thought our guest might enjoy one of the last possible trips down Choco Taco memory lane,” confirmed Kyle Champion, director of operations for Lexington’s Taco Tico.
The Choco Taco’s will be available free with a purchase, one per customer. And if you post a photo on social media and tag @tacoticokentucky you’ll be entered to win a $100 Taco Tico gift card, according to the release.
