The Last of Us and Yellowjackets star Melanie Lynskey has landed her next TV role in The Tattooist of Auschwitz, an upcoming adaptation of Heather Morris' best-selling novel of the same name.
The Sky and Peacock Original drama will tell the true story of Lale Sokolov, a Jewish prisoner who is assigned with tattooing identification numbers on fellow prisoners' arms in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War Two.
Lale instantly falls in love with a woman named Gita while he's tattooing her arm, and, with that, begins a "courageous, unforgettable and human story, told through one man's memory and experience of Auschwitz-Birkenau" (via Sky).

Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid) and Anna Próchniak (Baptiste) will lead the limited series as Lale and Gita, while Lynskey is set to take on the role of Morris.
Morris' book is based on years of interviews with Ludwig (Lale) Sokolov, so Lynskey's role likely means that the show will jump back and forth between Lale's time in Auschwitz-Birkenau and his conversations with the author.
Jonas Nay will play Stefan Baretzki, the Nazi officer who is assigned with guarding Lale in the camp.

"After the horrors experienced at Auschwitz-Birkenau, the continuation of Lale and Gita Sokolov's story is finding their new home, and it was years later in Australia that Lale felt comfortable to share his story with New Zealand author Heather Morris," Lynksey said in a statement.
"As a New Zealand storyteller in my own way, it is a privilege to be a part of the furthering of Lale and Gita's heart-breaking, yet heart-warming story."
Hauer-King added: "It is a huge privilege to be telling Lale's incredible story – one that he was so courageous to share. I have the utmost respect and admiration for his ability to find humanity and kindness in the most inhumane of places."
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is currently in production.
