LatAm women demand end to gender violence

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on Thursday (November 25), protests in the capitals of Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro saw women of all ages demanding their right to safer lives.

From policy to accountability, they raised their voices to demand measures that can curb femicides in the region, that have risen in countries like Brazil during the pandemic.

Nearly 1 in 3 women aged 15 years and older around the world have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime, according to data cited by United Nations.
