"Cat Kid Comic Club Collaborations," written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey, (Graphix/Scholastic, $12.99) is the latest highly entertaining book series by the exceptionally bestselling author.

This is the fourth graphic novel in the series by the creator of "Captain Underpants" and "Dog Man"; he has an incredible presence on Facebook, with over 30 million followers.

His latest release is not just aimed at younger readers; parents, teachers and adults should get a kick out of it, too.

It showcases a group of 21 young frogs, who gather to form a comic club, coordinated by their father, Flippy.

His friend, a human named Sarah Hatoff, and a cameraman follow some of the frogs around, putting their stories out to the media.

The second chapter focuses on "The Continuing Saga of Baby Flippy," which may or may not be based on reality.

The next chapter offers sharp photographs and haiku; it's followed by "Frogzilla," a violent parody dealing with a mutated radioactive frog and massive destruction.

"Chubbs McSpiderbutt: Easy Spider" continues the epic adventures of "Big Bubba Babyhead", written and directed by the Hacker Bros.

"Run Little Baby, Run!" is crudely drawn but funny; it details problems that may arise when a food delivery order is badly misunderstood.

"Malocop" is about a marshmallow who wants to be a policeman; the last chapter deals with aspects of the mathematical "chaos theory".

The final page of Pilkey's "Comic Club Collaborations"- "Notes and Fun Facts" - offers brief insights into storylines and the theme of this book: "Small things can have great effects".

If you haven't read any others in the series, it's okay to start with this one. However, to fully appreciate the characters, nuances and dark humor, it may be best to read the graphic novels in order.
