Latest Coronavirus Updates: 85 Combined Confirmed Cases In Palos

PALOS, IL — The new coronavirus outbreak in Illinois and across the country is having vast impacts in Palod, including the closure of several local businesses, the library, park district and schools.

Oak Lawn recorded the second highest number of confirmed cases with 132 reported on April 13. Calumet City now leads the south suburbs with 151 confirmed cases, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

Palos Hills has 36 cases, Palos Heights 38 and 11 in Palos Park.

Across Illinois, 74 new deaths from coronavirus were announced, with the Illinois’s death toll now standing at 794. In Cook County, the death toll rose to 581 with an additional 55 coronavirus deaths recorded by the Cook County Medical Examiner.

In suburban Cook County, confirmed cases stand at 5,512, with 281 deaths. Coronavirus has now spread to 84 communal settings, including nursing homes, long-term care facilities and jails.
Since March 31, eleven people died of COVID-19 infections at Palos Community Hospital.

Four residents at Manor Care Palos Heights West, 11860 Southwest Highway and one resident Manor Care Palos Heights East, 7850 W. College Drive, lost their lives to coronavirus, according to medical examiner reports.

Two residents at Lexington of Chicago Ridge Health Network, 10300 Southwest Highway, Chicago Ridge, and a resident at Sunrise of Palos Park died of coronavirus.

At the Bridgeview Health Care Center, 8100 S. Harlem Ave., medical examiner reports indicate four residents died of COVID-19 infections.
