Latest crash brings Fort Collins' motorcycle deaths to 5 so far this year
Update: Oct. 24: The Larimer County coroner's office identified the deceased as Traye Park, 21, of Fort Collins. Cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Tuesday evening in Fort Collins, marking the fifth such fatality of 2023 in the city and 11th in Larimer County, which is the number of motorcycle deaths the county had all of last year.
The crash happened approximately 7:45 p.m. Oct. 10 at the intersection of Windmill Drive and West Horsetooth Road, according to a Fort Collins Police Services news release.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee was going southbound on Windmill Drive and had stopped for the stop sign at Horsetooth Road. The Jeep began to make a left-hand turn to go eastbound on Horsetooth Road when it and a 2008 Honda CBR600 motorcycle traveling west collided.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a single rider of the motorcycle, an adult male, in the eastbound lanes of Horsetooth Road. The rider suffered life-threatening injuries and, despite efforts to save him, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Because the crash involved a fatality, the Fort Collins Police Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling Team took over the investigation, which closed Horsetooth Road between Shields Street and Manhattan Avenue for approximately five hours.
The name of the motorcyclist has not been released.
Police are asking those with information about the crash who haven't spoken to police and those who may have video of the crash, including that stretch of Horsetooth Road, to call Officer Matt Brede at 970-221-6842.
The condition of a motorcyclist seriously injured in an Oct. 6 crash with another vehicle at South Shields Street and University Avenue next to the Colorado State campus is unknown.
