Brian Boele of Lakeland, the most recent Polk County resident arrested in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot, has pleaded not guilty and been released on bond.

Boele appeared virtually before Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui on Friday. The judge ordered that Boele be released on personal recognizance.

FBI agents arrested Boele, 59, at his Lakeland home on June 3 following a grand jury indictment. He faces one felony charge of civil disorder and three related misdemeanor offenses for his alleged actions during the insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Boele was indicted along with James Brett IV, 48, of Clearwater, the Department of Justice. Those two were named in a superseding indictment previously charging three men from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.

Boele lived in Hillsborough County at the time of the Jan. 6 attack and bought a home in Lakeland in March, public records show.

Boele is the sixth Polk County resident indicted on charges related to the U.S. Capitol riot. One of the other five, Jonathan Pollock of North Lakeland, remains a fugitive.
