Latest Naperville Coronavirus Update
NAPERVILLE, IL — The new coronavirus outbreak in Illinois and across the nation is having a vast impact on Naperville, forcing the temporary closure of schools, businesses, parks and playgrounds.
As of Wednesday, the DuPage County part of Naperville had 31 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Edward Hosptial spokesperson Keith Hartenberger told Patch Thursday that Edward Hospital had 33 cases of coronavirus. Hartenberger added that three coronavirus patients have died.
At press time, there are 393 coronavirus cases in DuPage County and 13 patients have died from complications. As of Tuesday, Will County had 257 coronavirus cases and eight deaths. At press time, Will County had not released its number of coronavirus cases by municipality.
The news comes as the number of total coronavirus cases in Illinois is at 6,980. As of early Thursday, the statewide death toll was at 146. Governor J.B. Pritzker extended his stay-at-home order Tuesday through April 30.
SCHOOLS
All schools in Illinois will remain closed through at least April 30 per Pritzker's extended stay-at-home order. MORE.
BUSINESSES
Per the governor's order, restaurants are closed for in-person dining, but many Naperville restaurants are still offering orders for delivery or pickup. A GoFundMe was started to help provide meals from local restaurants to hospital staff. MORE.
HOSPITALS
In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, Edward Hospital has put a temporary no-visitor policy in place to help ensure the health and safety of the staff and community. Exceptions may be made, including for pediatric care, end-of-life care or other circumstances. MORE.
