Latest OSAA boys basketball rankings: Cascade, Stayton establish themselves as top contenders

Rivals Cascade and Stayton are starting to establish themselves as top contenders in the state in boys basketball.

Cascade is No. 3 in the latest OSAA Class 4A rankings, and Stayton is No. 4.

The Cougars beat the Eagles 39-35 earlier this season, and they have another showdown Feb. 8.

At the 6A level, there are no Mid-Valley teams ranked in the top 10, the highest being West Salem at No. 13.

In 5A, Silverton (No. 7) and Central (No. 8) are in the top 10, as is Dayton (No. 4) in 3A, and Jefferson (No. 2), Salem Academy (No. 3), Western Christian (No. 5), Kennedy (No. 6) and Regis (No. 7) in 2A, and Perrydale (No. 6) and Crosshill Christian (No. 7) in 1A.
