Latest Seal Beach Coronavirus Updates: Unchanged At 1 Case

SEAL BEACH, CA — On Tuesday, as Orange County is enmeshed in social distancing, an additional 42 cases were reported bringing the total number of those infected by the virus up to 502. On Tuesday, 3 additional residents succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll up to 7.

In Seal Beach, there was no increase from the previous day's total of 1 case.

In nearby Los Alamitos, there are between 0 and 4 cases, based upon the methodology in place by Orange County Healthcare, to only post cases in excess of 5 in towns with under 25,000 residents.

Over the past 24 hours, 94 residents were hospitalized and of those, almost 50 are currently in intensive care, OC Healthcare reported. The hospitals where people have been admitted into care were not released.

Of those who have died:

  • 4 were over the age of 65-years old.

  • 1 person was between 25-34 years old.

  • 1 person was between 35-44 years old

  • 1 person was between 45-64 years old.

The majority of the deceased were women, they reported.

Currently, in Orange County, 6,674 people have been tested and there are 1,250 tests available for specimen testing. The number of available tests in Orange County also increased since Monday.

  • Garden Grove: 2 cases (increase of 2)

  • Huntington Beach: 32 cases (decrease of 1)

  • Irvine: 50 cases (increase of 7)

  • La Habra: 2 case (no increase)

  • La Palma: 6 cases

  • Laguna Beach: 22 cases (no increase)

  • Laguna Hills: 2 cases (increase of 1)

  • Lake Forest: 10 cases (increase of 5)

In Anaheim, a homeless shelter run by the city and Salvation Army, was testing workers and transient residents after two employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, workers at Amazon and affiliate arm Whole Foods Marketacross the nation threatened a "sick out" in search of better wages and safety measures.

As the number of cases grow, laboratories developing coronavirus antibody tests may help end quarantine for some.

Signs and Symptoms

If you are showing symptoms, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, self-isolate within your home, and stay away from loved ones.

If you are an employer or employee at an essential location, stay home.

"You should self-isolate until you have symptom improvement, and your fever has not returned for 72-hours," OC Healthcare advises. "Self-isolation should last for at least 7 days."

If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor. If your symptoms are dire, such as pain in your chest, inability to draw breath, call 911.
