Latin American navy ships parade reaches Dominican Republic

STORY: The Velas Latinoamericanas exhibition (or Latin American Sails in English) is made up of vessels such as Brazil's 19th-century inspired "Cisne Branco", Argentina's "A.R.A Libertad", Mexico's "Cuauhtemoc", Uruguay's "Captain Miranda" and Colombian oceanic patrol vessel "20 de Mayo."

"The goal is to have a cultural exchange between friendly countries: food, folklore and to strengthen friendship ties between those countries," said Dominican Republic Navy Captain, Robinson Feliz.

During the nautical activity, visitors are allowed to get on board the ships and know them from the inside.

The vessels participating in the exhibition, which started in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro in February, will visit 11 countries, and stop at 13 ports.
