Watch: ‘Latinos and California’s midterm election: A conversation about political power’

Latinos could be a deciding voting bloc in November midterm races all over America, including in California’s Central Valley.

How are organizations working to mobilize California’s younger Latino voters – about 38% of whom are younger than 35? Which races best exemplify Latinos’ growing political power in the Golden State? Is this the year a Latino finally wins a congressional seat in the San Joaquin Valley?

We are no longer live. Click on the video above to watch a replay of the Q&A.

The hour-long event will feature conversations between political experts and reporters, including:

  • Mike Madrid, co-founder of The Lincoln Project and a nationally recognized expert on Latino voting trends, will discuss Latino voting trends in California and nationwide.

  • Yammilette Rodriguez, senior director of the Central Valley’s Youth Leadership Institute and a CSU trustee, and Rachel Hernandez, a Riverbank city councilmember, will discuss engaging Gen Z Latinos in voting and politics.

  • Amanda Renteria, the CEO of Code for America who served as the national political director for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, will discuss the top political races to watch in the San Joaquin Valley.
