Lauderdale County deputy arrested for DUI, placed on leave

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Florence Police Department arrested a deputy with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office for a DUI on Sunday.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Austin Hill has been placed on paid leave pending the results of an internal affairs investigation.

LCSO said on Wednesday that Hill had been arrested by the Florence Police Department on Sunday and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Hill was released on bond six hours later.

The internal affairs investigation will determine if leave without pay is appropriate and a disciplinary hearing at a later date will determine Hill’s final employment status, according to the sheriff’s office.
