Laurabelle's Bakery wins state window display award. Check out the scene on Market Street

An eye-catching small business on Corning's Market Street is in the spotlight.

Laurabelle’s Bakery recently won second-place in the distinguished Retail Council of New York’s Window Display Contest.

“Being nominated was such a wonderful thing, and now to be one of the top winners is just fantastic,” said Tarrah Seaver, owner of Laurabelle’s Bakery. “We are so grateful for the Gaffer District, Inc.'s support with our window displays."

Kristen Brewer, a Gaffer District spokesperson, said the innovative window decorating initiative known as the Visual Merchandising Program, presented by Gaffer District, Inc., has been a cornerstone of the community's aesthetic appeal for years.

Corning native Annie Koerner has overseen the program for the past four years, Brewer said. She was also a part of the program's inception in 1998.

"These small business owners, their gorgeous storefronts, and their commitment to our community are incredibly important to me,” Koerner said. “As a former small business owner on Market Street, I understand the dedication required to thrive. It’s a joy to give back in a way that feels so natural to me."
