Lava flowing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma, Spain, led to yet more evacuations on Thursday, October 14, bringing the total number of displaced people to over 7,000, according to Spanish media reports.

Footage released by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) on Thursday shows the lava advancing through the neighborhood of La Laguna.

Involcan said the footage was taken around 10:30 am local time, by which time Copernicus radar imagery suggested the volcanic lava flow was covering 680 hectares (approximately 2.63 square miles). Credit: Involcan via Storyful
