Lava Pours From Cumbre Vieja Volcano on La Palma

Volcanic activity continued on the Spanish island of La Palma on October 1, with lava pouring from the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

The lava flow destroyed about 1,000 buildings and was threatening another 1,200 by October 1, according to El Pais.

The Guardia Civil warned residents near the eruption to stay inside their homes “given the possibility of harmful gas” as the molten lava sizzled in the sea.
