Still humming the song, “Making our dreams come true,” or wondering what a “schlemiel” and “schlimazel” are?

Cindy Williams, the legendary star of Laverne & Shirley, will share memories of her career and hilarious backstage tales from her lifetime in entertainment in her one-woman show, Me, Myself and Shirley, coming to the Bucks County Playhouse on April 23 and 24.

The show comes to the Bucks County Playhouse, in New Hope, for a limited three-show engagement April 23 and 24 — its Pennsylvania premier.

Williams said she created the show with Broadway producer Charles Duggan during the COVID-19 lockdown after deciding they wanted to collaborate on a fun project together.

“So, we just put this fun show up on its feet. It started with COVID, started with the lockdown, but I had this brewing in my mind for years,” Williams shared in a phone interview Tuesday morning.

“My mission was to have a fun entertaining show, a buoyant mirthful show that makes people laugh out loud cause lord knows we need it after COVID,” she added.

Williams’ notable career spans decades, starring both on stage and on the screen, including her film roles in “American Grafitti” and “The Conversation.”

She worked with several Academy Award-winning directors, including Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, George Cukor, Roger Corman and Jack Nicholson; and starred alongside many actors she called friends, like “Laverne & Shirley” co-star Penny Marshall who played Laverne DeFazio, as well as Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, Henry Winkler, Richard Dreyfus, Gene Hackman, Dame Maggie Smith, Gene Kelly, Andy Kaufman and Robert Duval.

With a lifetime of memories, Williams admits it was impossible to fit it all into one show.

“I’ve been really blessed in my career to have all these adventures with all these marvelous people,” said Williams. “It was tough to pick the stories to keep the show below 90 minutes, but I can always go back and revisit that.”

Reflecting on these moments, Williams said she feels like Marshall, who passed away in 2018, remains by her side with each performance. She and her “Laverne & Shirley” co-star always strived to make each other and everyone around them laugh out loud, shared Williams.

“Penny’s imbued in me because we travelled this wonderful road together. The good, the bad, and the ugly, so she’ll always be with me,” said Williams. “She is there in the curtain call. We pay great tribute to a great talent.”

Through filming “Laverne & Shirley” for eight seasons, Williams grew to love the connection and interaction with her audience and standing before them again on stage is a blessing.

“It’s all one big interaction of love and happiness. We did the show in front of a live audience. I can’t tell you how many people have said, ‘You were a part of our family. You and Penny and the cast were part of the family.’ And that’s how I feel about them, too. Everyone is family,” said Williams.

The “Me, Myself & Shirley” creative team includes lighting design by Jose Santiago, video logistics by Josieu Jean, video designs by Declan Duggan & Zak Hudson, Justin Duggan as production associate, and production supervision by Charles H. Duggan.

“We’re happy to welcome the iconic Cindy Williams back to the Playhouse,” said Alexander Fraser, producing director for the Bucks County Playhouse. “We hope she’ll share stories about her amazing career, which include some stints at the playhouse of old.”
