LaVoys, Trabbic honored by Erie Knights of Columbus

Pete and Sue LaVoy of Temperance were named Family of the Month and Luke Trabbic of Erie was named Knight of the Month, respectively, for February by St. Joseph Council 7413, Knights of Columbus, in Erie.

The awards were announced by Grand Knight Tad Norts at the council’s Feb. 7 meeting.

The LaVoys have been married 40 years and are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie. Pete is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Council 8902, K of C, and assists a team of Knights that build beds for the “Let’s Build Beds” organization. The beds are given to needy and underprivileged children in the Toledo and Monroe County areas. Other team members include Mick LaVoy and Doug Petee.

Pete and Sue also volunteer at the weekly Lenten French Fry at St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Erie. Sue is an aide at St. Joseph Grade School and helps acquire food for student luncheons. Pete is a blood donor and helps with the Erie Knights’ bingo nights and Tootsie Roll fundraisers and the Bedford Goodfellows. He also is a member of the Bedford Lions Club. The next Tootsie Roll Sale is this weekend and will benefit programs for the mentally impaired and handicapped.

The LaVoys have two grown children, Megan (Matt) Scaggs and Katie (Keith) Royer, and five grandchildren with one grandchild on the way.

Trabbic sings with the choir at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Joseph’s and at the monthly Set Afire worship gatherings in Monroe County. He also assists with the fish dinners and takes part in weekly adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
