Law enforcement briefly places Riverview High School on lockdown

Riverview High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning for about an hour, marking the second lockdown of the school year.

The Sarasota County Schools Police Department and other local law enforcement were on the scene, and all students and staff were reported safe, according to a tweet sent by the district. The lockdown started at about 8:10 a.m. and lasted until about 9 a.m.

Sarasota Schools did not immediately respond for comment.

Riverview High School was the subject of a "swatting" incident in October, where someone falsely reported an active shooter on campus and Sarasota Police, Sheriff’s deputies, and school resource officers cleared the classrooms one by one, with video capturing a SWAT officer stepping over students as they crouched in the dark.
